Robert Draws – S. Sudjojono’s painting, titled The Indestructible Desert (or Gurun Pasir yang Tak Terhancurkan), is set to make waves in the art world as it heads to auction at Sotheby’s Singapore. Scheduled for January 18, 2025, this remarkable oil-on-canvas work, measuring 100 x 300 cm, is estimated to fetch between IDR 8 billion and IDR 23 billion. In addition to Sudjojono’s painting, the auction will also present rare pieces by Indonesian masters, including Raden Saleh, whose artwork is estimated at IDR 26 billion. Other Indonesian artists featured include Christine Ay Tjoe, I Gusti Ayu Kadek Murniasih, and Djoko Pekik, showcasing the depth and diversity of Indonesian art.
